Efficient use of prevention techniques and adoption of safe operating practices are the best way to identify and eliminate unsafe conditions.
Our rate is 0 (zero) fatalities in the last four years, emphasizing our safety excellence. We are in constant pursuit of that excellence, in order to transform Magnesita into an even safer and more sustainable place to work.
GLOBAL SAFETY CULTURE
We constantly invest in safety training of our employees and third parties in order to establish a safety culture. Our awareness policies for health and safety are applied in all units of Magnesita, regardless of their geographical location, and most of our units have the ISO 14001 and ISO 18001.
The Work Safe Observational Process seeks to identify risk behaviors, guide workers to replace those for safe behaviors, and, thereby, increase the security level of the company.
HEALTH AS PRIORITY
People are one of Magnesita’s values and, therefore, full health and well-being of our employees are a priority. We know they are our strength, and we have focused on ensuring their safety and quality of life.
In addition to promoting actions of monitoring and prevention, as occupational, welfare and dental activities, the Occupational Medicine operates in campaigns, lectures, training, projects, and Daily Safety Dialogues to educate employees on the importance of daily health care.
SOME OF OUR HEALTH ACTIONS
Nutritional monitoring of employees: it is carried out since 2009, focused on obesity and chronic diseases, and resolution rate of around 80%;
Monitoring patients with chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension and others;
Hearing Conservation Program (PCA): it is carried out an annual monitoring of employees exposed to noise in their workplace;
Ergomag Project – Ergonomics at work: since 2008, evaluations of workplaces and improvements are performed. Employees are guided about breaks, stretching and posture;
Monthly and guiding lectures during the DDS – Daily Safety Dialogue;
Pregnant Course with guidelines for parents since 2010
Smoking Cessation Program, with 90% of effectiveness;
